Once you've had a taste of this wine, you'll understand why many consider that Tolpuddle has arrived at the top table of Australian Pinot Noir. This was my top wine, out of 275 entries, in the Decanter New World Pinot Noir panel tasting, held in September 2023. A beguiling nose, fresh with maritime notes, fragrant spices, cumin, red fruits,layers of flavour and tannins that are sweet, fine and silky. Everything is here and in balance. Wonderful. 2021 is a marvellous vintage for producers wanting to highlight elegance over concentration. Underpinning everything is a sense of weightlessness, a wine with an effortless, floating texture, occasionally dropping new flavours across the palate, like gifts from elves.
