Domaine Pierre-Olivier Garcia, Les Grandes Vignes, Nuits-Saint-Georges 2022 - 75cl

Nuits-Saint-Georges is the burly heart of the Côte de Nuits — wines with more grip and structure than their neighbours, built to be aged. Pierre-Olivier Garcia's Les Grandes Vignes takes that reputation and adds his own signature: a layered, whole-cluster-inflected vinification and ageing in mostly older oak, so the wine keeps its transparency.

It is 100% Pinot Noir, and the nose is remarkable — pink roses, peony and lilac over sweet crushed red berries, with a lick of spice and a subtle woody note. The palate is refined and seamless, concentrated without weight, its fine tannins and controlled acidity framing a long, mineral finish. This is the more structured of Garcia's two bottlings here, and the one that most rewards keeping.

Approachable with a decant now, it will be at its best from around 2027 and hold well beyond that.

How to Serve

Serve at 16–18°C. Decant a young Nuits-Saint-Georges thirty to sixty minutes ahead — it opens the aromatics and softens the structure without stripping the freshness.

Scott's in Mayfair, where a village Nuits earns its place beside classic cooking. Or Noble Rot Lamb's Conduit Street for a genuinely Burgundy-literate room.

Food Pairings

Beef bourguignon, or a rare-roasted rib of beef. Truffled dishes suit it beautifully once it has a few years on it.
