Cointreau Spicy 70cl
The Spicy Margarita went from bar-menu novelty to genuine phenomenon, and in June 2026 Cointreau answered it with its first ever chilli-infused expression. This is the classic orange liqueur, fired up.
It's built on the same Saint-Barthelemy-d'Anjou base as standard Cointreau, orange peels distilled in copper pot stills, but here the house adds Bird's Eye chilli maceration along with natural chilli and jalapeno flavourings, plus a touch of cucumber for a cool, green freshness. Bottled at 30% ABV, ten points below the original, which softens it just enough to let the spice sit forward.
The signature citrus is still very much present, bright orange and mandarin, but now there's a warming chilli glow that builds gently rather than blasting you, with a clean cucumber lift keeping the whole thing balanced. It's bold without tipping into gimmick, which is the hard trick with anything chilli-flavoured.
The point of this bottle is convenience. A proper Spicy Margarita usually means muddling fresh chillies and hoping for the best; here you pour tequila, lime and Cointreau Spicy and you're done, with consistent heat every time. It also adds a warming edge to a Paloma or a spicy Cosmopolitan. At this price you're paying for the ease and the name, and for a household that makes Margaritas often it earns its keep.
How to Serve
Chill it and measure straight into the shaker for Margaritas over ice. A tajin or chilli-salt rim plays up the warmth beautifully. Neat over ice works too if you enjoy the heat.
Where to Drink It
Swift in Soho is a reliable stop for a well-judged Margarita. Satan's Whiskers in Bethnal Green loves a bit of spice. Scarfes Bar at the Rosewood does theatrical, punchy serves.
Food Pairings
A natural next to tacos al pastor or grilled prawns with lime. It also stands up to sharp ceviche.
