The Spicy Margarita has become a modern favourite in cocktail bars around the world, and for good reason. It's a simple twist on the classic Margarita that adds just the right amount of heat without overpowering the fresh tequila and citrus flavours. Pair it with tacos, grilled seafood or simply enjoy it as the perfect pre-dinner cocktail.
What's Included
- Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila (70cl) – A premium 100% blue agave tequila with fresh citrus, cooked agave and peppery notes. The perfect foundation for a classic or Spicy Margarita.
- Cointreau Spicy (70cl) – The iconic orange liqueur with an added kick of chilli, bringing vibrant citrus flavours and gentle warmth to every pour.
- Monin Agave Syrup (70cl) – Smooth, naturally sweet agave syrup that balances the citrus and spice while enhancing the tequila's agave character.
Spicy Margarita Recipe
Serves: 1
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
- 50ml Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila
- 25ml Cointreau Spicy
- 15ml Monin Agave Syrup
- 25ml fresh lime juice
- Ice
- Chilli salt or Tajín (optional, for the rim)
- Lime wheel or chilli slice, to garnish
Method
- If using, rim your glass with lime juice and dip it into chilli salt or Tajín.
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Add the Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila, Cointreau Spicy, Monin Agave Syrup and fresh lime juice.
- Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well chilled.
- Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice.
- Garnish with a lime wheel or a slice of fresh chilli.
House Tip
Prefer a little more heat? Add a few slices of fresh chilli to the shaker before mixing, or muddle them gently to release more spice. For a sweeter serve, increase the agave syrup to 20ml. For a sharper finish, add an extra squeeze of fresh lime.
