Silver Reign Brut, Silverhand Estate 75cl

Silver Reign Brut, Silverhand Estate 75cl
Here’s proof that English fizz doesn’t have to cost a fortune or follow the Champagne playbook. Silverhand Estate, up on the chalk of the Kent Downs at Luddesdown, makes Silver Reign using the Charmat method — the second fermentation happens in tank rather than bottle, which locks in freshness and keeps the fruit front and centre. It’s organic and vegan too, farmed with the land in mind.
The blend is classic English sparkling: 62% Chardonnay, with Pinot Noir and Meunier filling out the rest. It has picked up a cabinet’s worth of medals along the way, including Gold at both the London Wine Competition and the Sommelier Wine Awards.
Expect delicate aromas of elderflower, hedgerow blossom, pear and a little apricot. The mousse is fine, the palate crisp and refreshing, with citrus and ripe stone fruit carrying through to a clean finish. Bright, easy-going and genuinely moreish — the sort of bottle that disappears faster than you planned.
At this price it’s your new house pour. Friday nights, a sunny afternoon in the garden, a crowd to keep in glasses without watching the budget.
How to Serve
Serve well chilled, 6–8°C, straight from the fridge. A regular wine glass shows the fruit better than a flute. No need to save it — this is made to drink young and fresh.
Where to Drink It
Dandy in Maltby Street for a laid-back, low-intervention crowd. Planque in Haggerston alongside a spread of small plates. Or Brat in Shoreditch, if there’s grilled fish going.
Food Pairings
Brilliant with fish and chips — don’t laugh, the bubbles cut the batter perfectly. Just as good with grilled prawns, a summer salad, or a soft, young British cheese.
