Giffard Gomme Sugar Syrup 70cl
18+, T&C apply, Credit subject to status.
Gomme - or gum - syrup is the old-school bartender's sugar syrup, and Giffard's, made in Angers since 1885, is a faithful version: sugar syrup enriched with gum arabic and finished with a whisper of orange blossom, pouring a slight ivory colour. The gum arabic is the whole point, lending a silky viscosity and rounder mouthfeel that plain sugar syrup cannot manage.
Use it anywhere a drink needs sweetening and you want a little more body to the texture, especially in spirit-forward and vintage cocktails where mouthfeel does a lot of the work. It dissolves on contact, so there is no batch of homemade syrup to keep on hand.
How to Use
Typically 5-15ml per drink, to taste. Store somewhere cool and refrigerate after opening. Supplied in a 70cl bottle.
