Giffard Elderflower Syrup 70cl
Part of Giffard's wide syrup range from Angers, founded 1885, this bottles elderflower: floral and honeyed with a faintly muscat-like lift, close to a good elderflower cordial but pitched for the bar. It is delicate rather than heady, adding perfume without turning cloying.
Elderflower is a natural partner for gin and sparkling wine, and for light, citrus-driven drinks. Reach for it where you might otherwise use an elderflower liqueur but want the flavour without the alcohol or extra weight - it also makes a lovely soft drink lengthened with soda. It plays well with fresh lime, cucumber and soft summer fruit, so it is worth keeping around through the warmer months.
How to Use
10-20ml per drink, stirred or shaken to taste. Top with soda for a non-alcoholic long drink. Refrigerate once opened. Supplied in a 70cl bottle.
Cocktails to Try
Hugo Spritz, Gin Fizz, Elderflower Collins.
