Lehmann Glass was founded in Reims in 2012 by master glass designer Gérard Lehmann and Gérard Basset — a sommelier who held the World's Best Sommelier, Master Sommelier and Master of Wine titles all at once, a feat almost nobody has matched. The Hommage line is named in his honour. It's made from lead-free crystal using Lehmann's Ultralight process, developed over two years of research to get the walls impossibly thin while keeping the glass durable enough for real use. The result feels featherlight in the hand but doesn't demand you treat it like museum glass.
At 38cl this is the well-proportioned all-rounder — sized for lighter reds, whites and everyday drinking where you want a touch of refinement without hauling out the big Burgundy bowls. The thin rim delivers the wine cleanly to the palate; the shape gathers just enough aroma. Six to a case makes it a sensible buy for the dinner table or as a gift for someone who takes their wine seriously but not solemnly.
How to Use
Fill to the widest point of the bowl, never higher, so the wine has room to breathe. Hold it by the stem to keep your hand off the bowl and the wine at temperature. Despite the delicacy, these are dishwasher safe — though a gentle hand wash and a polish keeps the crystal at its brightest.
