Cincoro Tequila Reposado 70cl
The Reposado sits right in the middle of the Cincoro range, and for a lot of drinkers it's the pick of the three — enough barrel to add richness, not so much that the agave disappears. This is the brand built by Michael Jordan and four fellow NBA owners, whose name marries cinco and oro, and whose reputation rests on sourcing rather than the celebrity roster.
Like the rest of the range it's a blend of highland and lowland Jalisco agave, all 100% blue Weber, giving you both citrus brightness and earthy depth. It then rests eight to ten months in used American whiskey barrels down in an underground cellar, which is where the softer, sweeter side develops.
The nose is gentle and layered — subtle cooked agave, vanilla, caramel and a note of dried fruit. The palate brings cooked agave with honey, more vanilla, a flicker of pepper and a distinctive white-chocolate creaminess. It finishes with oak and spice giving way to something long and velvety. At 40% it's smooth and rounded, an easy one to keep coming back to.
This is the Cincoro I'd point most people toward first — versatile enough to sip neat and generous enough to make a memorable cocktail.
How to Serve
Neat in a copita or tulip at room temperature to appreciate the balance, or over one large cube if you prefer it cool. It builds a lovely old fashioned or a richer margarita. Skip the freezer, which would blunt the vanilla and caramel.
Where to Drink It
The Connaught Bar, for agave taken seriously. Scarfes Bar, for a relaxed evening pour. Swift in Soho, for a well-judged cocktail.
Food Pairings
Try it with grilled pork al pastor and a little charred pineapple — the caramel and sweetness align. Or sip it after dinner with a slice of vanilla flan.
