Bodega La Flor Sauvignon Blanc, Pulenta Estate 2025 75cl
Pulenta Estate's La Flor Sauvignon Blanc is high-altitude Mendoza doing what few expected the region to do well — crisp, zesty white wine with real cut. The 2025 is a fresh, bright bottle that punches above its modest price.
The Pulenta family are third-generation Mendoza growers, and the La Flor range is their more approachable, everyday tier. This Sauvignon Blanc comes from vineyards sitting well above 900 metres, where the cool nights of the Andean foothills preserve acidity and lift the aromatics — the altitude is what makes Mendoza Sauvignon work. Fermentation in stainless steel keeps the fruit pure and the style clean.
The wine pours pale lemon-green and opens with grapefruit, lime, passion fruit and a green, herbaceous note of fresh-cut grass and elderflower. The palate is dry and lively, with mouth-watering acidity and a clean, citrus-driven finish. It is more restrained and mineral than a flamboyant Marlborough style, closer in spirit to the Loire.
Drink it young and cold over the next year or two while its freshness is at its peak. At around £14 it is seriously good value — a reliable everyday white that over-delivers on brightness and character.
