Belvedere Organic Vodka

Rye is the hard road in vodka. It ferments slowly and yields less spirit than wheat, but it carries flavour the way few grains can — and we rate Belvedere for committing to it fully. This is a Polish vodka built from 100% certified-organic Dankowskie Gold rye, distilled four times, with nothing added to round it off — no sugar, no glycerine.

It comes from Polmos Zyrardow, one of Poland's oldest working distilleries, where rye has been turned into spirit since 1910. The grain grows on the Mazovian plains and is cut with artesian well water, and the organic certification runs from field to bottle rather than sitting on the label as decoration. Quadruple distillation here is about clarity, not about stripping the rye of what makes it worth drinking.

The nose is soft and unhurried — cream and a little vanilla, with the faint bakery note good rye always brings. On the palate you get that signature Belvedere texture: rounded, almost creamy, a lick of white pepper riding over gentle grain sweetness. The finish is clean and warm rather than sharp, the pepper fading slowly. For vodka, there is a surprising amount to notice.

Drink it cold and neat when you want to read the spirit properly, or use it as the backbone of a Martini, where its weight holds up against dry vermouth without turning oily.

How to Serve

Straight from the freezer, poured neat into a small chilled tumbler. For a Martini, stir hard with ice and a whisper of dry vermouth, then finish with a lemon twist.
