Antinori (Pian Vigne), Brunello di Montalcino 2018 - 75cl
Antinori’s Pian delle Vigne 2018 is a Brunello di Montalcino that marries power with poetry. Grown on clay-calcareous soils southwest of Montalcino, fruit from carefully tended Sangiovese vines is fermented and aged in large oak casks for two years, then bottled and rested further before release, a signature Antinori approach aiming for graceful complexity. Pouring a deep ruby, its nose offers layered aromatics: cherry, black cherry, and bright blood orange, followed by violets, gentle vanilla, and light balsamic warmth. On the palate, it feels fresh and savoury, with supple yet defined tannins and a long finish marked by citrus zest, subtle spice, and a trace of leather and tobacco. This is Brunello at its poised best, a wine that commands attention yet invites presence, ideal for slow dinners, thoughtful cellaring, or any moment that asks to be savoured.
