Here is a small secret that will save you money for the rest of your life: Crémant is French sparkling wine made exactly like Champagne, just not in Champagne.
Crémant is the name for traditional-method sparkling wine made in French regions outside Champagne, from Alsace to the Loire, Burgundy and Limoux in the deep south. The second fermentation happens in the bottle, exactly as it does for Champagne, which is what gives it those fine, persistent bubbles and a proper bready depth.
Same method, same care, a different postcode. That postcode is the only reason it costs less.
