Some evenings come with a bit more personality built in.

We hosted a small group for a night with Joe Fattorini, broadcaster, writer, and long-time face of The Wine Show. Decades spent travelling vineyards, collecting bottles and stories along the way. Four wines, each paired with something well judged:

• Terrunyo Sauvignon Blanc with shiso and sesame sushi rice rolls
• Amelia Chardonnay with smoked salmon and horseradish croustade
• Amelia Pinot Noir with mushroom and chestnut tartlets
• Don Melchor Cabernet Sauvignon with pear, prosciutto and Stilton

The wines showed well. The pairings held up. The room relaxed into it.

Simply put, a good night.
