Domaine Pierre-Olivier Garcia, Les Tuvilains, Beaune 2022 - 75cl

Pierre-Olivier Garcia set up his own domaine in 2016 and has moved quickly into the front rank of the Côte de Beaune's younger growers. Les Tuvilains is a premier cru on the slopes of Beaune itself, Pinot Noir farmed with a light touch and vinified with minimal sulphur so the fruit and the site come through undiluted. His method is painstaking — hand-harvested, sorted berry by berry — and it shows in the purity of what ends up in the glass. The generous 2022 season suited that approach, giving ripe fruit without losing tension.

The nose is expressive and floral: rose and violet over dark berry, blueberry and a fine herbal note. On the palate it is velvety and precise, red fruit and cherry to the fore, carried on a saline, faintly mineral texture that gives it real drive. The tannins are polished and fully integrated, more about definition than grip, and the finish is long and savoury with that whisper of salt lingering. It drinks beautifully young thanks to the low-sulphur, fruit-forward style, but has the balance to reward three to five years.

How to Serve

Serve at 16°C in a Burgundy glass. A short 30-minute decant helps a young, low-sulphur wine settle and show its floral side.
