Glenfarclas 25 Year Old with Glasses and Water Jug Gift Set 70cl
A quarter of a century in first-fill Oloroso, presented with two glasses and a water jug — this is Glenfarclas dressed for an occasion, and one of the great sherried malts you can still buy without remortgaging.
Glenfarclas has spent 25 years maturing this whisky in the heart of Speyside, family-owned by the Grants and, as ever, filled entirely into sherry wood. The gift set is built to be shared: the jug and glasses are a nod to the fact that a dram this old genuinely benefits from a drop of water and unhurried company. Age at Glenfarclas is never about oak dominating — it's about the sherry deepening into something layered and complete.
The nose is buttery and creamy with roasted pecan, rum-raisin, black cherry and honey, all wrapped in a musty old-warehouse note of tobacco and leather. The palate is full-bodied and dessert-like: deep sultana, dried fig, dark chocolate and Christmas cake, sherry sweetness spread evenly across the tongue. The finish is remarkably long and complex — oak-rich, with cocoa, toffee, spice and a faint curl of smoke that seems to go on indefinitely.
At £299.99 with the glassware included, this is special-occasion territory, and it delivers — a proper collector's Speyside and a fine gift for someone who takes their whisky seriously.
How to Serve
Neat in the tulip glasses provided, room temperature. Use the jug — a few drops of water open the fruit and spice without diluting the depth. Never rush it.
Where to Drink It
Dukes Bar in St James's for old-school grandeur. The Connaught Bar for immaculate service. The American Bar at The Savoy for a milestone evening.
Food Pairings
Honestly, it's best with your full attention. But if you want something on the side, roast game or a wedge of aged hard cheese suits the depth — a square of very dark chocolate if you'd rather chase the sweetness.
