Domaine Amiot Guy, Chassagne-Montrachet, Vieilles Vignes 2022 - 75cl

Chassagne-Montrachet is one of the great white-wine addresses of the Côte de Beaune, and this Vieilles Vignes bottling from Domaine Amiot Guy draws on the estate's older parcels — the deep-rooted vines that give white Burgundy its concentration and grip. It's a village wine with genuine substance, not a thin introduction to the appellation.

The 2022 vintage was warm and generous but kept its freshness, and that balance shows in the glass. Look for ripe pear and white peach, a lick of lemon curd, then the hazelnut, brioche and gentle toast that come from barrel ageing and time on the lees. Underneath sits the mineral backbone Chassagne is prized for — a chalky, oyster-shell tension that lengthens the finish and stops the richness cloying. It's Chardonnay with weight and cut in equal measure.

Drink it now for the fruit and the creamy texture, or give it two to four years and let the nutty, savoury complexity build. This is white Burgundy to bring out when you want to make an occasion of dinner.

How to Serve

Serve at 12–13°C — too cold and you'll mute the aromatics. A large white Burgundy bowl is ideal. No decant needed, though it opens well over the meal.
