The 2021 Pin Monferrato Rosso Organic DOC, La Spinetta from Spinetta emerges from one of Italy's most storied regions - a place where ancient grape varieties, mountain soils, and generations of winemaking expertise converge. Piemonte (Piedmont) sits in the shadow of the Alps, its hillsides shrouded in the 'nebbia' (fog) that gives the Nebbiolo grape its name. The region's wines are known for their depth, their structure, and their ability to age gracefully for decades. This is wine as architecture - built to last, built to impress, built to reward patience and cellaring.

The bouquet unfolds gradually - red fruit, subtle spice, a whisper of leather and earth. On the palate, the wine reveals itself as finely structured, with silken tannins that coat the mouth gently rather than grip it assertively. There is refinement here, an elegant refusal to shout or dominate. Instead, the wine unfolds layer by layer - dark cherry, a thread of minerality, hints of dried herb and smoke. The acidity is precise and lively, keeping everything in motion toward a finish that extends with quiet insistence. This wine will age beautifully; it is structured for the cellar, built to develop over years or even decades. This is a wine for collectors and for those who understand that patience is sometimes its own reward. It will develop and improve with age, gaining complexity as the rough edges soften.

How to Serve

Serve at 16 - 18°C - true room temperature, but on the cooler end. Decanting is often beneficial, particularly for younger bottles; pour gently into a decanter 30 - 60 minutes before serving. This allows the wine to open gracefully without harsh oxidation.

Food Pairings

Piemontese cuisine and Piemontese wine are natural, almost inevitable partners. Think rich risottos, braised beef, aged Parmigiano Reggiano, or white truffles if fortune smiles. The wine's structured tannins and depth pair beautifully with umami-rich dishes, and its warmth and spice complements slow-cooked, long-simmered preparations beautifully.
