Old Mull Ledaig 20 Year Old – 70cl

Twenty years in a refill hogshead, bottled at natural cask strength of 53.1%, and only around 250 bottles. This is Ledaig, the peated spirit of Tobermory Distillery on the Isle of Mull, released by Decadent Drinks as "Old Mull" in their 2026 island-hopping series.
Tobermory is the only distillery on Mull, tucked into the harbour of the island's brightly painted capital, and it makes two whiskies: unpeated Tobermory and heavily peated Ledaig. Ledaig is the wild one: smoky, salty, savoury and often a little untamed in its youth. Two decades in refill wood have given it polish and depth without sanding off any of that island character. The wood stays in the background; the distillate does the talking.
Think of it as a fisherman's dram. On the nose, coal smoke, charred lemons on the barbecue, sea brine and a metallic, harbour-side edge. The palate is big and boisterous: seawater, green olives, pure lemon juice and deep bonfire smoke over a meaty core. The finish is long, peaty and ashy, with more lemon and briny olives lingering at the end.
For peat lovers, mature Ledaig at full strength is a proper treat, and there isn't much of it about.
How to Serve
Neat in a Glencairn first. A few drops of water will calm the smoke and bring the citrus forward.
Food Pairings
Grilled langoustines, smoked mackerel pâté, or a plate of salty green olives and Manchego.
