Moscato d'Asti, Prunotto 2025 75cl
Moscato d'Asti is one of the great small pleasures of Piedmont, and Prunotto's version does it properly — gently fizzing, barely five percent alcohol, all orchard blossom and sweet grape. The 2025 is a fresh, joyful bottle made to be drunk young.
Prunotto source their Moscato Bianco from the Canelli area, historic heartland for the grape, where the aromatic character reaches its peak. This is frizzante rather than fully sparkling, made by the traditional partial-fermentation method that traps natural grape sweetness and a soft prickle of CO2 while keeping alcohol low. It is a wine designed for lightness, not weight.
Expect a pale, bright glass with a delicate mousse and a nose that leaps out: peach, apricot, honeysuckle, elderflower and fresh green grape. The palate is sweet but never cloying, because a clean thread of acidity keeps it lifted and the finish comes off crisp and grapey rather than sugary. It is genuinely refreshing.
Drink it now, well chilled, while its aromatics are at their most vivid — this is not a wine to keep. At around £18 it is a lovely everyday indulgence, perfect for a sunny afternoon or the end of a meal without the seriousness of a dessert wine.
How to Serve
