The Insider Series | Rosebank
In Falkirk, on the banks of the Forth & Clyde Canal, stands a name once thought lost: Rosebank. Founded in 1840 by James Rankine, it was long regarded as a Lowland jewel before falling silent in the 1990s. Today, after decades of slumber, Rosebank has been reawakened as a 21st-century distillery, and it is unlike anything else you’ll see.

We were lucky enough to walk its grounds with Victor Clark, Distillery Ambassador, who shared Rosebank’s story.
“We take people from our history, from the canal that brought us our goods and carried away our whisky, all the way through to the modern distillery we have right now.”
The architecture is breathtaking: new glass and steel woven into old brickwork, the proud chimney still standing tall, a landmark of Falkirk given fresh life. The distillery opened its doors to visitors on 7 June 2024, neatly bridging past and present, memory and innovation.
For Victor, the spirit of Rosebank is about more than whisky:
“We want Rosebank to jump and sing and be the product it was of the past. You’re working in one of the key industries that Scotland is known for. It fills me with pride.”
A lost legend returned, Rosebank is once again part of Scotland’s whisky story, and its future.
